Day 3: Callander to Killin
Day 3: Callander to Killin, with a loop around Loch Earn. NRN 7 gets a bit difficult with loose gravel switchbacks going up to the railbed from Lochearnhead parallel to A85 in Glen Ogle. Otherwise, it's a fantastic trail. I decided to loop Loch Earn... the South Road is picturesque and mostly high over the loch; closer to St. Fillans it is at loch level where many holiday goers pitch tents or bring caravans to fish. Lunch was a hunk of cheddar and oatcakes procured at the old village store in St. Fillans. Killin is charming, and ate a dinner of locally smoked salmon while overlooking the Falls of Dochart. There's a music concert/festival in town tonight, but the tickets are all sold out.
